Drink of the Week: Aperol Spritz

It’s the summer. I am isolated in the UAE and I am dreaming of a carefree summer. There isn’t a better drink to help you relax and feel happy than the Aperol Spritz. You don’t have to have any special equipment to get this drink “right”. This is the perfect drink to unwind once you spent some time working on your documentary.

Mix it as you like it. I prefer to include a squeeze of fish orange juice for a touch of sweetness since I use brut prosecco. This is the mix:

1) Aperol

2) Prosecco

3) Club soda

4) Slice of fresh orange

What is your summer fun drink? I’ll add it to my list.

Is it Summer or is it Winter?

Well…  that depends on the hemisphere that you are standing in… I have one final beer recommendation from my time in New Zealand.

DRINK: Monteith’s Summer Ale (yes – the drink matches the glass)

LOCATION: The Kiln in Invercargil, New Zealand (the end of the earth)

I have to give props to The Kiln who had excellent live music.  The guitarist focused on the best of the 90’s so I was pleased.  I sat in the back corner.  I had a complete view of the bar which I thought was one of the best seats in the place.

It’s a summer brew and it’s from New Zealand SO good luck finding it in the US.  If you can’t find it – I recommend just pretending it’s summer for a night and grab a corona with a lime.

The beer is smooth & sweet.  I can taste honey and something spicy.  I can’t quite place it.

I have to admit I cheated and read the description on the bar menu.  The spice is from the nutmeg – yummy.

It’s really good and really easy to drink.

5 out of 5 Cheers.
